Abstract

Theology subjects serve as a special institutional subject for every Catholic school. This is the edge of a Catholic institution wherein it functions as an effective evangelizer to the youth. The congregation for Catholic Education (CCE) challenges Catholic schools to respond into this mission. Therefore, this work aims to propose an effective pedagogy to efficiently fulfill such mission to the learners. More so, it also offers a holistic approach that can be used by the Theology facilitators. EDGE stands for E-ncounter (Deal with the status quo), D-etermine (Engage with the Christian teachings and other Disciplines), G-enerate (Execute Actions), E-xult (Pray and Celebrate). With this flow of discussion, learners are expected to transcend from a speculative armchair knowledge progressing towards a more meaningful and an active participation not just inside the classroom but most essentially, to the Church and society as well. Coincides with this approach is the application and consideration of these methodologies cited on the National Catechetical Directory of the Philippines (NCDP) identified as Integration, Inculturation, and Community-forming. The proposed pedagogy exemplified the relevance of such which brings a clearer lens of understanding, participation, and an active response from the learners.
