Abstract

A Catholic University pursues its objectives through the formation of an authentic human community animated by the spirit of Christ (Ex Corde Ecclesiae 21). Every Catholic university is an extension of the missionary spirit of the Holy Mother Church that adheres to the principles and customs of Catholic values and doctrines, integrating them into its educational programs, curriculum, and campus life. The Catholic identity of a university is demonstrated via its dedication to inculcating faith, nurturing spiritual development, and social accountability among the learners. In this endeavor, De La Salle University, through its Service-Learning, advocates integral human development. The Principles of Lasallian Education in the Philippines, the university is committed to the holistic, integral human and Christian development of the students through engaging them in social action, community building, and faith formation programs. This study examines the viewpoints of educators regarding the influence of Service Learning on academic instruction in Religious Education, with the aim of enhancing the curriculum of Christian Living courses in the Philippines. The paper will utilize a Descriptive-Qualitative methodology to explore many potential ways of approaching and enhancing Religious Education. In this regard, this research paper will offer contemplation and insight into proposals for local strategies to revitalize Religious Education instruction.
