Abstract

Beliefs in God(s) can be noticed with the emergence of different world religions that lists an estimated 5.37 billion followers. Non-religious groups including Atheists co-exist with them. But the question remains as to why and what really influenced them to disassociate from their religion or refused to believe in God’s existence. The Purpose of this qualitative inquiry is to explore the themes behind the lived-experiences of Young Adult atheists representing their reasons for unbelief in a divine being. This phenomenological study reviews the narratives of five college student participants who acknowledge being atheists using snowball sampling. Qualitative data is drawn through in-depth interviews and analyzed using Moustakas’ approach. Various themes and five eidetic insights were extracted from content analysis. By digging into the lived-experiences of the respondents it can provide everyone a new way of looking at atheism among the young adults.
