Abstract

This paper investigates the influence of Silsilah’s Madaris-Gurus and Catechists Formation Program on the formation of Roman Catholic Catechists in Zamboanga City, Basilan, and Jolo. The research addresses the existing gap in the literature regarding the practical impact of interactions with Islamic faith teachers (Madaris-Gurus) on catechetical practices in the said ecclesiastical area within Mindanao. The content analysis of proceedings and reflection papers from 2008 to 2019, coupled with qualitative interviews with two catechists from each area, will offer insights into changes in catechetical content, pedagogical strategies, and pastoral approaches. Respondents include catechists who participated in the formation programs in the specified regions during the mentioned period. This study is significant for providing a practical understanding of the interfaith influence on Catechetical Ministry in diverse religious environments.
