Abstract

Values are ethical principles that a person struggles to realize and live (Esteban, 1990). Values Integration is a channel of values development through Curriculum Planning and the Teaching – Learning process. Values Integration is leading the students to see a personal meaning in whatever teachers teach in the classroom. It is a challenge on how teachers integrate values with subject matter content during class discussions. Thus, the study aims to guide teachers in integrating values in Curriculum Planning and in the teaching–learning process using the 6 P’s Framework namely: First: Purpose – is giving a clear idea of where you are leading the students to learn including the activities, tests, and values to be integrated. Second: Purge (unpack) – is putting together or merging competencies without sacrificing the content. Third: Plan – is based on clear competencies, activities, assessment, time allocation, and relevant and real-life ways founded on the Values. Fourth: Perform is considering the prior knowledge, systematic presentation and even change. Fifth: Parallelism – is a vital component of learning that would lead to a behavioral change in the students in their daily encounter with life. Sixth: Pause & Prove is the ability to reflect and evaluate. A qualitative method will be used for data collection and analysis, while interviews and classroom observations will be used as major techniques for data collection. Findings show that teachers can identify the values to be integrated but are hesitant to apply them in the teaching-learning process. As a follow-up to the findings, it is recommended that teachers will follow the 3 TEA stages namely: Train – teachers will undergo lectures and discussions on the Core Values of the school, Enhance - teachers will be given time to practice the Process and Assess – teachers will have a chance to evaluate how they integrated values with the mentorship of their respective Supervisors or heads. These follow -up stages can be done during their Professional Learning Community sessions and INSET Trainings. This is fundamental because Values Integration is an essential component in the development of the character and identity of the students at the same time having a good grasp of the content being taught in the classroom.
