Abstract

This presentation highlights the contemplative ‘speech act’ of Pope Francis’s Laudato Si. This contemplative aspect will be reviewed through the lens of British polymath Iain McGilchrist’s work on the human brain. McGilchristian neuroscience will elucidate Laudato Si’s contemplative aspect. This reconsideration will be contextualized in school settings using Helen Lees’ ‘silence for education’. For its practical implication, briefly it will bring in the issue of plastics in the Philippines.
